:D:D:D:D:D

ok oops. that was weird. but... i'm seriously happy! haha performance is nxt wk!!! so exciting! :D the adrenaline rush thing seems to be affecting me even earlier this time round, maybe cos there's been a performance drought after teacher's day perf last year. all that practising and rehearsals are so exciting! -.- maybe i seriously need to get my head checked. and listening to enya's cd paint the sky with stars make me happy too! actually it's only 2 of the songs, anywhere is and only if, but it's so cheerful, yet the lyrics interesting and meaningful.

plus, i'm currently v v high on my reading addicition. it's the history book that i bought in sec 4, recommended by lily chua which i NEVER BEFORE READ. i found it during spring cleaning, and now i'm hooked! i've nvr studied WWI, only WWII, and it's fascinating how things started, and etc etc etc. v v v exciting indeed! i cnt stop reading -.-

indulgent day yesterday! facial/massage/cheese tart. omg. it's got to be a sin to put so many enjoyable stuff in one day/space of few hours.

swimming on monday was interesting -.- did water salsa. and revisited the concept of gliding while swimming. i've forgotten so much of what i've learnt during my 6 years worth of swimming lessons goodness. the basic strokes are still there, but the concepts within them are gone hiaz. and we had to share the pool with two groups of school students.

on a more serious note, i noticed a while ago that motorists are always blamed for traffic accidents, but nobody ever really notices that it may be the pedestrians at fault. i've seen people dash out onto the roads without looking out for traffic, but if/when they get knocked down, it's the motorists at fault even though there was no way they could have seen or anticipated someone dashing onto the road. that's fair? HOW? and not to mention those irritating cell phone users who don't seem to realise that they are crossing a road. my family once encountered this nincompoo who stepped onto the road with her face stuck on her phone screen outside IMM. thank goodness my dad was travelling v slowly. and when my dad blared his horn at her, she had the cheek to GLARE AT MY DAD. wow. it completely amazes me how imbecilic people theses days have gotten, and how incredibly selfish and conceited most of the human race now is. it's not over generalisation, i made the case for the exceptions, but one has got to accept that that's the overall level of human intelligence these days.

and that's a nice quote: (people) are elite because they want to do their best. elitism is when you do your best to beat other people.
or sth to that extent. the (people) here refers to rafflesians, and this quote was by my friend, in mypaper. but i believe it applies to traditionally strong schools like hc too. you are only elitist if you strive to improve only to beat others. but for most of us, the motivation to do well lies within ourselves, that we want to do the best that we can. it's not elitism. for those who cry that people who do well are elitist, perhaps its time to revise your attitude. these people do well because they want to excel, and not because they are elitist. they may have an aptitude for academics, they may not, but the thing that really seperates these people from the rest is the motivation to do their best and work hard. this is not elitism. this is what singapore needs. people who are able to push themselves to be the best they can be, thus pushing singapore to be the best SHE can be. just because you come from a top school or institution does not warrant the title elitist, as the rafflesians are arguing about in tdy's papers.

ONLY IF...
when there's a shadow you reach for the sun.
when there is love then you look for the one
and for the promises there is the sky
and for the heavens are those who can fly

if you really want to you can hear me say
only if you want to will you find a way
if you really want to you can seize the day
only if you want to will you fly away

when there is a journey you follow a star
when there's an ocean you sail from afar
and for the broken hearts there is the sky
and for tomorrow are those who can fly

if you really want to you can hear me say
only if you want to will you find a way
if you really want to you can seize the day
only if you want to will you fly awy
